LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual) history month is a month long annual event which helps integrating these groups of people to the society, observing their history and their civil rights movements.
The firs event of the organization was initiated in the UK by Sue Sanders, Elly Barnes and the organisation Schools Out. The firs time the project LGBT History month was carried out was in February 2005. The event was an effect of the abolition of Section 28 in 2003 and is intended to raise awareness of this minority.
The first celebration of the month in 2005 had a blast organizing over 150 events around the UK. It had a huge success receiving over 50,000 hits on their website in February 2005. In 2006 they had a new logo, designed by typographer Tony Malone, he has also ‘modified’ the logo for 2007. His first concept became the corporate logo for the national committee and each year started to receive its own mark featuring different topics.
